 Prof. Dr. Gülaçtı Topçu

Gülaçtı Topçu is graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Pharmacy in 1977 and obtained her PhD degree from the same Faculty on Natural Product Chemistry in 1985.

She was then worked at Department of Chemistry, at Marmara Research Center, TUBITAK, Turkey more than 14 years  for "phytochemistry and drug discovery" research area between 1985-1999, except for 2 years (between 1986-1988) at Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago where she had post-doctoral studies.

She was then appointed as a Full Professor in 1999 at the University of Istanbul, Faculty of Pharmacy. In 2006, she moved to Istanbul Technical University to work in Organic Chemistry Division at the Department of Chemistry until July 2011.

Since Sept. 2011, she has been working at Bezmialem Vakif University as the founder Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy and Professor of the Pharmacognosy and Natural Product Chemistry Division. She has directed 15 PhD and 20 master students theses till now.

She has also been worked abroad as visiting schoolar or visiting professor for short periods (2-3 months) abroad in several universities/centers including Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, RP in China; H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, Karachi University in Pakistan; Leibniz Institute, Department of Plant Biotechnology, Halle-Saale, Berlin; and finally she has been at Virginia Polytechnical Institute and State Univ. Dept. Chemistry, Blacksburg, USA, between Sept.- Nov. 2001 (3 months) to work in the frame of a collaborative NSF research project together with Prof. Kingston.

Her research area is focused on "Potential Drug Discovery from Natural Sources", and she has been the project leader/researcher for several national and international researches and industrial projects.

She is the author of over 180 SCI indexed scientific articles, and her publications have been cited for more than 3400 times (Web of Sci).
